Jason Halpern and Patrick Murphy have led Gridless Power together since founding it in 2012, splitting the company's DNA down the middle: Halpern as technical founder and CEO, Murphy as sales founder and President. Halpern's interest in power engineering started small, with a University of Pennsylvania senior design project building solar and battery kits for his family's farm — a hands-on beginning that grew into the battery management system now at the core of Gridless's technology.
Murphy has spent the years since steering the company's growth and partnerships, building Gridless from an early-stage federal contractor into a battery and power electronics supplier now trusted by organizations like NASA, Amtrak, and the New York City MTA. Together, the two have kept Gridless closely held and engineering-led, prioritizing durability and long-term reliability over quick scale — a philosophy they credit for the company's staying power in a market where off-the-shelf solutions often fail.
